30 X 24cm Oil on canvas. Greenwich Peninsular. Originally Tunnel Refineries and later The Syral Sugar Factory . It closed in Sept 2009. Whilst coming back from Woolwich I caught sight of this just before I entered the Blackwall tunnel. I doubled back to stop and stare. The demolition had taken a rest for the day, the sun had just set and a strange light enveloped the site. It was a magical last chance to see moment. Like watching a sinking ship. I returned two days later for more of the same at sun rise, but it had become a field of crushed brick.

London City airport at sunset Canary Wharf on the horizon.These were from a photo I took just as our plane turned to face the runway.I've started painting the same image twice in slightly different ways or on different supports. By comparing which is working best the other gets a leg up, as it were

Soapy Creek

One of the weirdest locations I've been to. A peninsula in the Thames. Surrounded by a patrolled asbestos dump the nick named Soapy Creek joins what used to be the first fresh water lagoon coming in to the Thames. It would have been sailors first opportunity to have a proper wash with soap. Apparently the water would change colour when the whole crew had a bathe.

Notre Dame Paris. I grabbed a snap with my iPhone whilst walking crossing the road to the metro. The low light was hitting the facade and the reflected light was colouring the area.

Everyone loves the market. It feels like Dickensian London in some parts.

I liked the converging bridges and everywhere you look there is Buddleia, lurking in the corners or just out of reach and impossible to get rid of. As if it was waiting for the right time to take back the city, in the name of nature.
