I'm proud to have "Aggregates, Greenwich" selected for the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize. The show is up for the week and IMHO is well worth seeing. The selectors this year were Ken Howard, Peter Clossick, Paul Newland, Steve Pill and Andrew Wilton.

Prize at the RBA

I'm very pleased to announce that I was awarded The Gordon Hulson Memorial Prize for Draughtsmanship, Variety & Exploration at the Royal Society of British Artists 2014 show. I feel very happy to be included in an exhibition with some of my painting heroes and to be chosen amongst everyone is a very special honour. I was also very happy to meet Mrs Hulson, Gordon's widow who is very kind, generous and encouraging.

Closing Petrol Station will be on view at The Mall Gallery in the 296th Royal Society of British Artists Annual Open 2014
I parked my car and went into the mini market. The shelves were totally empty. The Shop assistant was emptying the tills. "Oh sorry" he said "we are closing down." The next day the demolition crew moved in. I was the last customer. I was struck by the deep blue dusky sky up against the acidy hue of the  station lights, which I suppose would have been not replaced recently due to the closure.

Studio Move

In December I had to say goodbye to my gift of a studio space in the heart of The Isle of Dogs or Harbour Exchange. Effectively a luxury island building in The Millwall Dock. 4000 m2. It was an experience commuting to work with the bankers, being the only person not wearing a suit on the tube.
Location based projects are fruitful and the island has proved an inspiration. Thanks to the Marketing Dept of Canary Wharf PLC I got access to the top floor of one of the taller buildings and have been working on a large panoramic city scape of the island.
